AAK’s unique sustainable sourcing programme in West Africa has grown exponentially since it began in 2009 and was showcased through a live presentation and a new interactive display area at in-cosmetics global in London this April.

Sustainability Corner
The new area, called ‘Sustainability Corner’, was set up as an interactive educational space. Visitors were invited to use specially designed display pods to explore the latest trends and developments in personal care sustainability. AAK’s pod, along with a live presentation on April 5th, showcased the Kolo Nafaso direct sourcing programme that helps to empower women, improve livelihoods and secure the future of shea in West Africa.

Real stories from the women of West Africa! Visitors to Sustainability Corner were invited to learn about the Kolo Nafaso direct sourcing programme and what it means to families in Burkina Faso and Ghana. Besides being able to explore on their own using an interactive display pod, visitors could attend a live presentation followed by an open discussion.

New formulas on display
In addition to Sustainability Corner, lipid experts at AAK’s stand were available throughout the show to demonstrate how the company’s natural ingredients can help formulators to create more sustainable products. There, visitors could experience for themselves new innovative formulations addressing two growing trends – environmental protection in face care, and conditioning and styling of textured hair.

Studies to support sustainable choices
New studies were also available showing how featured ingredients developed by AAK outperform synthetic and placebo benchmarks, providing cosmetics brands with the tools they need to move beyond less eco-conscious ingredients readily used today.

Take a break like a Swede
Back by popular demand was AAK’s much appreciated, Swedish fika bar, inviting visitors to enjoy a cup of coffee and a small bite to eat in a relaxing atmosphere.
