Bioactive Emollients

INCI NAME: Canola oil

LIPEX® PreAct™

Description

Lipex PreAct is a bioactive emollient derived from non-GMO Swedish canola and is an effective moisturizer, naturally rich in antioxidant tocopherols and phytosterols. These properties combine to prepare and protect skin against UV radiation (PRE) and actively restore a compromised skin barrier function (ACT). Its composition makes it naturally highly stable without the need for additional antioxidants.

Features and benefits

  • An in-vitro study of protein oxidation on epidermal skin cells after UV exposure shows that Lipex PreAct offers significant protection to both proteins and cell membranes and reduces formation of inflammatory mediators. All of which makes it particularly suitable for after-sun and environmental protection formulations.

  • Results on skin explants irradiated by UV further demonstrate the photo-protecting properties. Treatment with a Lipex PreAct cream showed a complete absence of sunburn cells and reduced formation of thymine dimers, indicating DNA protecting capacity.

  • The unique blend of tocopherols and phytosterols has been clinically shown to protect and strengthen the skin barrier after surfactant-induced damage, making Lipex PreAct ideal for skin care applications targeted at sensitive and delicate skin.

  • High oxidative stability provides long shelf life.

UV protecting effect of LIPEX PreAct

The results of the study show that Lipex PreAct can help to protect the skin against the harmful effects of UV radiation. Damage markers such as sunburn cells and thymine dimers are suppressed under the experimental conditions. It is important to note that Lipex PreAct does not replace traditional organic and inorganic UV screens. Read the study
